Some people in America are demanding a general strike to protest against the war and against George Bush's presidency.
Basically a "General Strike" is when no-one goes to work. "No work. No School. No Shopping".

The one in England in 1926 caused a lot of trauma. The Upper crust came and worked the buses. But I guess this one is one DAY only.
