I'm getting rather annoyed at the massive security and road changes required in Sydney for the upcoming APEC conference. Being a former Sydneyite, I know what it is like to sit in bumper-to-bumper traffic being frustrated at everything that is happening.
The problem is - and this is the rub - that the thing causing the most hassle is George W. Bush. If Bush wasn't going to APEC then the effects would be minimal. Now that Bush has decided to visit earlier, he has thrown the preparations out considerably.
My solution is simple - either have APEC somewhere where terrorists would find it difficult to reach, such as Pitcairn Island, or just ask Bush to contribute via a camera in the White House.
