Gilliam film to continue shooting despite Ledger's death

This is good news:
Jude Law will appear as Heath Ledger's character, along with Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell, in the unfinished film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Law's spokeswoman said today.

They will all play the role of Tony in the fantasy film Ledger had been filming before his death.

The 28-year-old Australian, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Brokeback Mountain, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on January 22, after an accidental overdose of six prescription drugs.

It was not immediately clear how the role will be reconstructed for three actors.

Shooting for the movie, directed by Terry Gilliam, had just finished in London and had moved to Vancouver, Canada, before it was suspended on the news of Ledger's death.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is described as a fantastical morality tale about a travelling theatre company which can control the imagination of others.

Law has a string of film credits to his name including the remake of Alfie, Cold Mountain and The Talented Mr Ripley.

Depp, who has been nominated for an Oscar three times, is attracting rave reviews for his role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Irishman Farrell has appeared in Pride and Glory, Veronica Guerin and American Outlaws.
Three actors replacing Ledger? Either they thought ledger was a legend or they jumped at the chance of being in a Terry Gilliam film.

One more reason to love Terry Gilliam

(Question)...you never directly approach the issue of sex, you've never really directed a sex scene. Although the theme comes up from time to time…

(Answer) It's been overdone in the movies, I think. I don't know what to do in a sex scene that would be original. I'm basically getting tired of it. Sex scenes seem to be an easy way out so often. They were interesting in the Sixties, when we started seeing them on film, but now I feel they are overused.

I suppose there's another side of me that just feels it's actually a private matter, and not one necessarily that you have to expose publicly. There's lots of kinds of scenes I avoid because they've been overdone - sex scenes are one of those.

Actually, the real reason is that I'm really bad at sex!
