This made me laugh

The complete ridiculousness of a paraphilia based upon the image of a dumb, silent woman...

Some good editorial cartoons

One of my more guilty pleasures is reading Somethingawful.com. It's a mishmash of stupidity and offensiveness so it obviously appeals to me.

Anyway, one of the guys at the site has been drawing editorial cartoons for people's amusement, and they have put a lot of them together here. These are my favourite ones:

Please read Crimson Dark

Crimson Dark is a webcomic I read on a regular basis. Inspired partly by Firefly and other science fiction shows, it follows the story of the crew of a privateer spaceship as they seek to survive and make a profit during a major war.

Lately, the writer/artist David Simon has been thinking of shutting down the project. Advertising revenue has been dropping off and his regular life has often suffered in his effort to get his "baby" off the ground. Fortunately he has decided to keep going.

Annoyingly, David can't devote any more time to Crimson Dark to create more than one page per week, yet the project needs multiple pages per week to gain popularity.

I can think of numerous ways Crimson Dark can make more money than it does, but for the moment I would like you to spend time reading the Crimson Dark series, beginning at chapter one here. The artwork isn't the best at the beginning but becomes markedly better as the series continues.

Enjoy!

Rugged individualism and self reliance

I personally don't have any problem with welfare spending. I think it's important to help people on lower incomes. If putting Sarah Palin up as VP means that the Republicans want more people to get welfare, that's a good thing. I'm just saying.

Update:
Sarah Palin’s home state is awash with money.

Today's xkcd

I'm a Christian, which means that I believe in the supernatural. Nevetheless I have to agree with the message of this comic strip. So many mistakes of human behaviour - including ones by politicians that can result in the deaths of millions - can be traced to an inability to challenge assumptions.

Examples would be: The Common Cold (belief that a chilly environment can cause a cold), the Iraq War (in which clear absence of WMD evidence eventually proved to be evidence of WMD absence) and various other urban myths.
